TREATMENT GUIDELINES

TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • To decrease the likelihood of bleeding or bruising, discontinue use of blood thinning products for 10 days before your treatment. (But be sure to check with your doctor first!) This includes: aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), naproxen, Aleve, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, flax, vitamin E, vitamin D, garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, ginseng, and more.
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment, as it’s also a blood thinner.
  • Avoid applying anything to your skin until the day after your treatment — that includes cleanser, moisturizer, and makeup.
  • Do not massage, manipulate, or touch the injection site. (This includes facials!)
  • Give yourself a rest! Avoid heavy exercise the day of your treatment.
  • Avoid dental work for 30 days after filler injections.

FAQ’S

That’s what we’re here for! At your appointment, one of our SkinLocal experts will listen to your goals, review your medical history, and examine your skin to determine the best treatment specifically for youm keeping you informed of the procedures and costs at every step.

Every person is different, as is every treatment. Generally, it’s best to schedule your injection at a time when minor swelling or bruising won’t put a damper on your professional or social plans. Once you start getting fillers, you’ll have a better sense of how your skin reacts.

Effects vary from person to person, but swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness, and areas of firm nodules may occur. If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact our office immediately: dusky or white discoloration of injected areas, mottling or unusual bruising, severe or increasing pain, redness, increasing warmth or coolness to touch, severe swelling, itching, blisters, difficulty swallowing or smiling, fever, or chills.

Fillers typically last anywhere between 6-18 months, depending on the type of treatment you get, the areas treated, and how your body reacts. Chat with your SkinLocal skin expert for more info!
