WHAT IS PRP?

Skin Local’s PRP (“platelet-rich plasma”) treatment uses your own plasma to stimulate the growth of new, healthy tissue to rejuvenate your skin and/or promote hair growth. In short, your provider will draw a small amount of your blood, then inject it back into your skin, for truly fabulous results.

TREATMENT GUIDELINES

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling and peeling may be apparent in that time period.
Avoidance of IPL/BBL, laser procedures and waxing for the past 7 days is required.
Discontinue topical retinoids 24 hours before treatment to reduce sensitivity.
Starting Arnica supplements at least 2 days prior to injections may help with bruising from injections.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

Redness or sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few days).
Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.
Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours due to open skin.
Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
If exposed to the sun, always use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours.

PRP FAQ’S

What is the downtime? Can I go back to work after my treatment?

It is common to notice redness, swelling, bruising and soreness immediately after the procedure. However, this shouldn’t prevent you from returning to work after injections. We recommend scheduling injections around your work schedule if you are concerned about the social downtime.

When will I see results?

Results commonly become noticeable within one week after treatment and improve with time. When treating skin concerns such as melasma and deep lines and wrinkles, it can take several treatments before noticing results.

How long do results last?

Results from treatment are permanent. We recommend treatment every 4 to 6 months to enhance and maintain results.

When can I wear makeup again?

Makeup may be worn 24 hours after treatment.

I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I get PRP?

We recommend receiving clearance from your OBGYN prior to treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding.
